Xiaomi has expanded its tablet lineup with the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro, announced alongside the much-anticipated Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro at a recent event in China.
These new tablets aim to offer premium experiences without getting close to flagship pricing of the Galaxy Tab S10 series or Apple’s iPads.
Let’s dive into what we know about the release date, pricing, and key specifications for the Xiaomi Pad 7 series. They are an important release for the tablet market, particularly considering there is no regular Tab S10.
When will the Xiaomi Pad 7 be released?
The Xiaomi Pad 7 and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro were officially announced on 29 October 2024, during Xiaomi’s product launch event in China, alongside Xiaomi 15 series.
The company has yet to confirm an international release date, but given Xiaomi’s past rollout strategies, the Pad 7 series is expected to launch in other markets within the coming months.
Global availability and pre-order details should be forthcoming, so fans should keep an eye out for updates.
How much does the Xiaomi Pad 7 cost?
In China, the Xiaomi Pad 7 starts at CNY 1,999, which is approximately £216/$280 based on current exchange rates.
The Xiaomi Pad 6 started at £369 in the UK and around $349.99 in the US (though it was not officially available there) for the base model, while the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro was priced at £599 in the UK and closer to $400 in the US (also not officially).
Therefore, the Pad 7 could well start at £369 or at least come in at under £400 even with a price rise.
Pricing for the Pad 7 Pro has not been disclosed, but it’s expected to be higher than the standard model due to upgraded specifications, particularly in processing power and camera capabilities.
We’ll update this article with global pricing when we hear from Xiaomi.

What specs and features will the Xiaomi Pad 7 have?
Design
The Xiaomi Pad 7 series maintains the sleek and minimalistic design language seen in the Xiaomi Pad 6 series as well as the Xiaomi 15 phones.
Both the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro share an identical design, featuring a sleek form factor that measures 251.22 x 173.42 x 6.18mm and weighs 500g.
This lightweight design seems highly portable and comfortable for extended use.
Xiaomi
The tablets are available in black, blue, and green colour options. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is also included on both models, ensuring quick and secure access.
Display
Xiaomi has equipped both the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro with an impressive 11.2-inch LCD touchscreen, boasting a 3.2K resolution (3200×2136) for vibrant visuals.
The display also supports a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is ideal for productivity tasks, and a 144Hz refresh rate, enhancing smoothness for tasks like gaming and scrolling.
With a peak brightness of 800 nits, users should expect excellent visibility even in bright environments.
Xiaomi
While the panel may not match the vividness of OLED displays, the high refresh rate should deliver a fluid and immersive user experience, especially for gaming and media consumption.
Future flagship models, expected in 2025, could see an upgrade to OLED.
Performance
The Xiaomi Pad 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor, a strong upper-midrange chipset. This processor is engineered to handle most tasks seamlessly, from multimedia streaming to productivity and light gaming.
Xiaomi
For those seeking a slight performance boost, the Pad 7 Pro utilizes the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, designed to handle heavier applications and gaming demands with ease.
Both tablets are available in RAM and storage configurations of 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB, with the Pro model offering an additional 12GB/512GB variant for users needing more storage.
Cameras
The camera setup differs slightly between the Pad 7 and the Pad 7 Pro, catering to varying user needs.
The Pad 7 includes a 13Mp rear camera and an 8Mp front-facing camera, ideal for casual photography and video calls.
Xiaomi
The Pad 7 Pro, however, offers a more advanced setup with a 50Mp rear camera and a 32Mp front camera, providing higher-resolution images and improved detail for videoconferencing and selfies.
Battery & Charging
The Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro both pack an 8850mAh battery. Charging speeds, however, vary between the two models.
The Pad 7 supports fast charging at up to 45W, which should fully charge the battery relatively quickly.
The Pad 7 Pro takes it a step further, supporting up to 67W fast charging for even quicker power-ups.
Xiaomi
Battery life is expected to be solid, especially with the power-efficient processors on board, making these tablets suitable for extended use throughout the day.
Software
Both the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro run on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2, based on Android 15, though official confirmation on the Android version is still pending.
HyperOS 2 brings a range of customisation options and optimisations for tablets, enhancing multitasking capabilities, AI and integrating features that make use of the 11.2-inch display.
