Although reviews after the premiere at the Venice Film Festival were far from enthusiastic, no one expected Folie à Deux to be such a flop. Not only did it get 33% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it was beaten at the box office by an indie slasher, Terrifier 3. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. is rushing to bring the film to home media.
In our opinion, it’s worth giving Joker: Folie à Deux a chance and going to the cinema to see how the musical story of Arthur Fleck and Harleen Quinzel plays out. When will Joker: Folie à Deux be released on VOD?
In the US, the movie is now available for rental and purchase. You can find Joker: Folie à Deux on Amazon Prime Video US and iTunes.
The musical hit VOD on Tuesday, 29 October 2024, just 25 days after its theatrical release, which is much earlier than expected. Warner Bros.’s decision is certainly influenced by Folie à Deux’s poor ticket sales. However, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a recent smash, appeared nearly as quickly on VOD, only 32 days after it opened in cinemas.
In the UK, Joker 2 will appear on VOD on Monday, 4 November 2024, 12am GMT.
When will Joker: Folie à Deux be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
According to the date provided on the Amazon US website, physical copies of the Warner Bros. film will appear in the store on Tuesday, 17 December 2024. Joker: Folie à Deux is now available for pre-order.
This date hasn’t yet been confirmed by Warner Bros., but it pairs with our earlier predictions. To cash in on the upcoming Christmas and shopping frenzy, this date would work, so it feels likely.
When could Joker: Folie à Deux be released on streaming services?
It’s more difficult to determine when the new Joker movie might drop on streaming because Warner Bros. doesn’t have a set pattern here.
Barbie didn’t hit Max until nine weeks after its release on DVD and Blu-ray. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire took three weeks, while Wonka only took 10 days. In contrast, this year’s massive blockbuster, Dune: Part 2 appeared on streaming just a week after the physical editions were released.
We estimate that the earliest Joker: Folie à Deux could appear on Max in the US and on Sky and Now in the UK is the second half of December 2024.
