OnePlus launched a gift bundle today that includes a branded backpack and bucket hat – and a £40 discount voucher for the OnePlus 9. The bundle also costs £40. If that sounds convoluted, it’s because it kinda is.
The way it works is you buy the gift bundle now for £40. Once you receive the gifts, OnePlus will essentially return your money to you via the £40 voucher, which will be added to your OnePlus account.
The voucher can only be used towards the OnePlus 9 series, which is poised to launch on 23 March, and will be valid until 30 April, 2021. Keep up with the latest OnePlus 9 news here.
So are you really saving? Perhaps. OnePlus claims the value of the additional gear is £81.90, so in theory that is a £41.90 saving – but only if you were interested in the OnePlus branded swag to begin with. I’ll pass.
The better deal right now is £70 off the OnePlus 8T. The handset, which boasts a 120Hz display and 65W fast charging, only launched last October and received a stellar 4.5/5 stars in our review.
OnePlus is offering £50 off the 12GB RAM/256GB storage option which typically costs £649. However, a separate promo that slashes £20 off purchases exceeding £400 reduces the price to just £579 – currently the best price around.
The 8T is out of stock at John Lewis, and Amazon’s discount is only £50.
