Anyone in the market for a top refurbished handset must check out BT’s current offer on the top-spec Galaxy S20 5G with 12GB RAM and 128GB storage. While the handset is no longer available to buy directly from Samsung, this particular configuration boasts an RRP of £899 – while BT’s asking price is £599.
The Grade-A refurbished handset should pretty much look and work just like new. If there are signs of wear, the most you can expect are fine scratches or marks. It’s worth noting that BT states this device is in its “Sealed, original packaging”, which suggests it’s likely brand new stock that was returned by a customer.
In any case, you get a 12-month manufacturer warranty should you need additional support.
In his review, our Deputy Editor Dominic Preston called the Galaxy S20 “the best phone in Samsung’s S20 series” and gave it 4.5/5 stars, along with a Tech Advisor Recommended badge.
The £300 saving off the RRP matches the going-rate for the midrange Galaxy S20 FE (or Fan Edition) which you can still buy from Samsung.
While both the S20 and S20 FE flaunt somewhat comparable specs, most notably the Snapdragon 865 chip and a 120Hz display refresh rate, the full-fat Galaxy S20 offers just a bit more gravy.
Additional benefits on the S20 include a QHD display, Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and 25W charging. The S20 FE, in comparison, offers a lower-res Full HD+ display, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and 15W fast charging. The S20 5G also offers a larger 64Mp main camera lens compared to the S20 FE’s 12Mp main sensor. And let’s not forget, the Galaxy S20 FE is all plastic (or “glasstic”). Despite the launch of the Galaxy S21 on 14 January, the price of the S20 hasn’t really budged. You can’t buy it on Samsung, and Amazon’s lowest price for the S20 5G is £729.99, which saves you £169 off the RRP. Elsewhere, retailers such as Currys and Very are maintaining the £899 price tag – even though that makes it more expensive than the entry-level S21 phone.
