Samsung Galaxy smartphone users have been able to use Samsung Messages for a long time, but now it seems that the app will eventually be phased out.
According to 9to5Google, Samsung Messages will no longer be pre-installed on the company’s mobile phones in the US. Instead, the default option will be Google’s messaging app.
Those who want to will be able to download Samsung Messages separately, but expect that sooner or later it will disappear altogether.
One advantage of the Google app is that it has better support for Rich Communication Services (RCS), a text messaging standard that makes it easier to communicate with each other regardless of the devices we have.
