Let’s face it: unless you want to use a tablet for serious work or gaming, there’s no need to spend a lot of money.
As good as the very best tablets are, most people just need something for the basics, including the likes of web browsing, watching videos and emails. If you’ve read our guide to the best budget tablets recently, you’ll know that the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 sits at the top.
It offers superb value for money at its £169 starting price, but this hefty discount takes things to the next level. In its Cyber Monday sale, Amazon is selling the tablet for just £104.99 – that’s an incredible 38% off.
You might have seen that the same 64GB model is even cheaper in other listings on Amazon. There’s one for £93.75 and another for £93.90.
However, neither of these are UK versions of the device, so you’re taking a risk once it’s shipped to you. They’re also sold by third-party sellers rather than directly from Amazon. And with some mixed reviewers, you’re taking a much bigger risk.
It’s up to you which to buy, but we’d recommend the official version. It’s only slightly more expensive, anyway.

One thing to note is that only the official listing is marketed as a ‘Black Friday Deal’, meaning it’s likely to expire once Amazon’s sale ends on 2 December – Cyber Monday. If you’re in the market for a new cheap tablet, take advantage while you still can.
As our 9/10 review shows, this is the one most people should buy.
The combination of a sleek yet premium design, solid 8.7-inch display, decent performance and solid battery life is something no other tablet can match at this price point. Throw in four years of security updates and you’re on to a winner here.
Its affordability is highlighted as a strong point even at full price, so being able to get it for so much less is a real opportunity. Provided you can live with slow charging, disappointing cameras and some blurry scrolling at times, you won’t be disappointed with the Galaxy Tab A9.
However, if you want to step up to the Galaxy Tab A9+, there’s also a great deal available. Amazon is selling the tablet for £199 instead of £239 – that’s a 17% saving. However, over Black Friday and the weekend it was selling at the lower price of £154. It’s still a great price, but don’t delay any further if you want one!
It was also a hit with our expert, receiving an 8/10 full review and Editors’ Choice award. If you want a more powerful chipset or a larger 11-inch display, this is the device to go for.
