You might not realise it but which colour of device you choose could affect how much money you save this Black Friday.
While a lot of deals will be the same no matter which colourway you opt for, I’ve noticed a trend this year that might get you an even bigger discount. I’ve spotted a number of black phones cheaper than their vibrant stablemates it it could be similar with tablets, smartwatches and more.
A prime example of this is on Amazon where you can now get the Pixel 8 in Obsidian (aka black) for £389.72 (now £424.07) – almost £60 cheaper than the Rose and Hazel colourways.
It’s sold by Amazon Resale which means it’s a return but it’s in ‘Like new’ condition and still comes in the original packaging with a statutory legal warranty.
Not many are shopping hacks like Amazon Resale, though. The Pixel 8a is just straight up cheaper in Obsidian compared to Porcelain at £354.99 instead of £369 and both are ‘Black Friday Deals’.
Amazon
Another example is the budget-friendly Xiaomi Redmi A3 which is £55 in Amazon’s sale if you get the Midnight Black option. That’s 90p cheaper than Star Blue and almost £20 less than Forest Green.
There are others which you’ll find cheaper in black (or the equivalent name for it anyway) and it’s mostly something Amazon does.
Whether it’s a Black Friday name coincidence or a pricing strategy – more likely the latter as black models sell better – make sure you check the different colourways before you click that buy button.
