The compact Surface Go line began life in 2018, pitched as an affordable alternative to the Surface Pro among Microsoft 2-in-1s.
Two successors have launched at the time of writing, the latest of these being 2021’s Surface Go 3. That device includes a 10.5in touchscreen, dual cameras and optional Intel Core i3 processor, although entry-level models drop down to a more basic Intel Pentium Gold chip.
But combining the Go 3 with a detachable keyboard cover (a necessary purchase for most people) means it can no longer be considered a true budget device. Many rivals at this price offer more power or a larger display.
To make the Surface Go 3 worth buying, you’ll probably need advantage of some deals. The good news is that there are usually quite a few available in the US and UK.
