Google is announcing the Pixel 9 series of smartphones on 13 August, but all the Pixel 9 Pro colours have been leaked already – and I’m not impressed.
One possible reason Google has moved its Made by Google event earlier than usual (typically it’s in October) is to get ahead of leaks. But at this rate, it doesn’t seem like there’ll be anything left to unveil about the Pixel 9 series.
The latest info – and there’s a lot coming out right now – is the full range of colourways for the Pixel 9 Pro. If Slashleaks is correct, the flagship device will have a very boring set of options.
As you can see, there are three colours we’re familiar with: Obsidian, Porcelain, and Hazel. Or in simple terms, black, off-white and grey.
The last is Rose, which you can technically get the Pixel 8 in, but it’s a completely different shade this year. A bright pink rather than the peach tone of last year’s model.
If these turn out to be correct, then I for one won’t be excited about the device half as much as I’d like to. I quite like my Pixel Tablet in Hazel but it’s hardly thrilling.
That, and the fact Google has succumbed to the flat sides trend as well, losing much of the Pixel personality in the process.
What about the Pixel 9?
Google does colours differently to most other phone brands, where the two devices in each series (though there will also be the 9 Fold Pro this time) share some colourways but also have exclusive ones.
The Pixel 8 is, as mentioned, available in Rose, while the Pixel 8 Pro comes in Bay (blue) instead.
However, it seems Google might be syncing them up, as the Pixel 9 has been shown off in pink by leaker Sudhanshu Ambhore, albeit in a darker hue than the 9 Pro above.
Onleaks (via 91Mobiles) also reports that the 9 series “comes in new colours like dark grey, light grey, off-white (rumoured to be called Porcelain White), and pink.”
I’ve got my fingers crossed for a more exciting line-up of colours but more often than not, these leaks turn out to be true.
